About Nurse April |
Mudita Medical Aesthetics

Welcome!

It means so much that you’re here, and I’m excited to connect with you on your journey. My name is April, and I am the owner, founder, and lead injector at Mudita Medical Aesthetics. My career in nursing spans more than 15 years, but my path to aesthetic medicine has been one of discovery, courage, and constant growth.

I worked full-time in Acute Mental Health for over 11 years, and after relocating to the Valley I transitioned to roles within Public Health, Occupational Health, and Infection Control — fields that gave me a deep respect for both the science of healthcare and the human side of healing. After becoming a mother, I felt called to take a leap into something that blended clinical precision with artistry: Medical Aesthetics.

What started as a curiosity quickly became a passion. I trained at the International Institute of Aesthetic Medicine, and from there immersed myself in mentorships and advanced education with leaders across the country. My training continues to grow with ongoing courses through THMA and Seamless Health, as well as regular, hands-on training with various clinical trainers for the products I use in clinic. These experiences allow me to deepen my understanding of product breakdowns, the science behind their formulations, and how to achieve optimal results safely and effectively. This fall, I will be expanding that knowledge even further by attending my first cadaver lab through the Canadian Society of Aesthetic Specialty Nurses to sharpen my anatomical expertise.

But my greatest teacher has been experience — both my own and my clients’. I live by the principle that I will never offer a treatment I haven’t personally experienced. From injectables to advanced skin treatments, I want to know every detail: the downtime, the healing, the discomfort, the outcome. This approach gives me not only clinical knowledge, but also empathy and perspective when guiding my clients.

Building Mudita has been a journey of independence, resilience, and community. I started this practice from the ground up, supported by incredible mentors along the way. Kirsten Fudge, lead nurse and owner of Up North Beauty and Wellness in Bancroft, ON helped me see potential I didn’t know I had, and the team at Uplifted Medical has reinforced my commitment to collaboration, safety, and education in this fast-changing industry.

Today, Mudita is more than a clinic. It’s a philosophy. The word itself means “taking joy in the happiness and well-being of others” — and that is the heart of my work. My goal is never to change how someone looks, but to help them feel like the most confident, refreshed version of themselves.

Outside of the clinic, I’m a wife, mom of two, and proud dog-mom to our Akita Shepherd. Life in the Ottawa Valley has given us space to explore, adventure, and appreciate balance — values that flow into my approach with every client I meet.

As the aesthetics industry evolves, so does Mudita — a place where knowledge, artistry, and care create beauty that feels like you.
